There are a number of minor planets named after astronauts. An astronaut is a person of any nationality who has flown at least 100 miles above the Earth's surface.

All symbols for minor planets named after astronauts incorporate the same element: an up-arrow with a small elliptical ring around the vertical line, representing liftoff and orbital flight.

13606 Bean Alan Bean (1932–2018) an American astronaut, became the fourth person to set foot on the lunar surface during the Apollo 12 mission to Oceanus Procellarum. After leaving the space program, he had devoted himself to documenting his and his fellow astronauts' experiences through his spectacular artwork.
39882 Edgarmitchell Edgar Mitchell (1930–2016), an American naval officer, aviator and NASA astronaut, who was the sixth man to walk on the Moon.

8023 Josephwalker Joseph A. Walker (1921–1966), a NASA research pilot who was the second pilot to fly the X-15 and made a total of 25 flights. Three of these flights entered space and he received NASA astronaut wings posthumously in 2005.
8024 Robertwhite Robert Michael White (1924–2010), an Air Force test pilot who was the third pilot to fly the X-15 and made a total of 16 flights. He was the first pilot to fly Mach 4, Mach 5 and Mach 6, and the first to fly a winged vehicle into space. White received Air Force astronaut wings for the flight.
8026 Johnmckay John B. McKay (1922–1975), a NASA research pilot who was the 5th pilot to fly the X-15 and made a total of 29 flights. Before joining the X-15 program, he made 46 flights in the X-1 and D-558-II Skyrocket. In 2005 McKay received posthumous NASA astronaut wings for a flight that reached an altitude of 89900 metres.
8027 Robertrushworth Robert A. Rushworth (1924–1993), an Air Force test pilot who was the 6th pilot to fly the X-15 and made a total of 34 flights. One of these flights reached 86800 meters, for which Rushworth received Air Force astronaut wings.
8028 Joeengle Joe Engle (born 1932), an Air Force test pilot who was the 8th pilot to fly the X-15 and made a total of 16 flights. He received Air Force astronaut wings for a flight that took him to 85500 meters. Engle also flew the Space Shuttle, becoming the only person who reached space before being selected as an astronaut.
8030 Williamknight William J. Knight (1929–2004), an Air Force test pilot who was the 10th pilot to fly the X-15 and made a total of 16 flights. These included the fastest X-15 flight, which reached Mach 6.7, and another flight to 69600 meters for which he received astronaut wings.
8031 Williamdana William H. Dana (1930–2014), a NASA research pilot who was the 11th pilot to fly the X-15 and made a total of 16 flights. These included a 1967 flight to 93500 meters and he received NASA astronaut wings in 2005. Dana made the 199th and final X-15 flight in 1968 and subsequently flew the M2-F3 and HL-10 lifting bodies.
8032 Michaeladams Michael J. Adams (1930–1967), an Air Force test pilot who was the 12th pilot to fly the X-15 and made seven flights. On 1967 Nov. 15, he was killed when his X-15 broke up during reentry. The first American to die in the course of a spaceflight, Adams was awarded posthumous Air Force astronaut wings.

92892 Robertlawrence Robert H. Lawrence Jr. (1935–1967) was selected for the Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) program. He was the first African American to be selected as an astronaut and was the only MOL astronaut with a doctorate. He perished in a plane crash before he had the opportunity to go to space.
92894 Bluford Guion Steward Bluford Jr. (born 1942) was the first African American astronaut in space. He was a part of four missions between 1983 and 1992, which included deploying satellites, testing robotic arms, and conducting research. Bluford logged a total of 688 hours in space.
95449 Frederickgregory Frederick Drew Gregory (born 1941) is a retired American astronaut who was the pilot on one space shuttle mission and commander on two other missions. In 1989, he was the first African American to command a space flight. He also served as Deputy Administrator at NASA.
97508 Bolden Charles Frank Bolden Jr. (born 1946) is a former American astronaut who flew on four space shuttle missions (two as the pilot and two as the commander). From 2009–2017, he was the NASA Administrator.
97512 Jemison Mae Carol Jemison (born 1956) is a retired American astronaut who flew on the space shuttle in 1992. On the space shuttle she conducted scientific experiments. She was the first African American woman to travel into space and the first African American woman admitted into the astronaut training program.
103733 Bernardharris Bernard Anthony Harris Jr. (born 1956) is a former NASA astronaut who flew on two space shuttle missions. In 1993, he was a mission specialist who carried out research as part of Spacelab D-2. As Payload Commander on the space shuttle in 1995, he became the first African American to conduct a spacewalk.
103734 Winstonscott Winston Elliott Scott (born 1950) is a former NASA astronaut who has flown two missions into space. Scott completed three spacewalks to retrieve satellites and evaluate the assembly of the International Space Station. 103738 Stephaniewilson Stephanie Diana Wilson (born 1966) is a NASA astronaut and the second African American women to fly in space. She has flown on three missions and as of 2020, she has logged the most time in space of any African American astronaut (42 days). She also served as the ground commander for the first all-women spacewalk in 2019.
103739 Higginbotham Joan Higginbotham (born 1964) is an electrical engineer and former NASA Astronaut. She actively participated in 53 space shuttle launches as an engineer at Kennedy Space Center before becoming the third African American woman to go into space.

119890 Zamka George D. Zamka (born 1962) is a retired American astronaut. Zamka piloted the Space Shuttle Discovery in its October 2007 mission to the International Space Station. He was the commander of the Space Shuttle mission in February 2010, an International Space Station assembly mission.
119993 Acabá Joseph Acabá (born 1967) is an American astronaut. He flew to the International Space Station in 2009, 2012 and 2018 aboard both the Space Shuttle and the Soyuz spacecraft. On his first flight, he participated in space walks to assemble the International Space Station. As of July 2020, he has spent 306 days in space.
122554 Joséhernández José M. Hernández (born 1962) was born into a migrant farming family. He became an American astronaut and was a mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Discovery to the International Space Station in 2008. Prior to his time as an astronaut, Hernández helped to develop the first full-field digital mammography imaging system.
122555 Auñón-Chancellor Serena Auñón-Chancellor (born 1976) is an engineer, physician, and astronaut. She has collected meteorites in Antarctica, served as an aquanaut on an undersea research station, and was a Flight Engineer on the International Space Station for 6 months in 2018.
126965 Neri Rodolfo Neri Vela (born 1952) is the first Mexican person to travel to space. In 1985, he was a payload specialist on the Space Shuttle Atlantis. During the flight, he conducted experiments, including many on the subject of human physiology.
