1047 Geisha

This minor planet is not named after the 芸者 geisha the Japanese women who study traditional art and music, but after the musical The Geisha, a two-act Edwardian musical comedy from 1896.

The musical itself is an example of orientalism, not really connecting to Japanese life or culture in any meaningful way, merely presenting it as an exotic backdrop. Therefore the symbol I propose for this minor planet has nothing to do with the Japanese concept of the geisha, but instead from the most famous song from the musical, "The Amorous Goldfish." The symbol of this minor planet is a simple upright fish, with a heart for a head.
