11 Parthenope

This minor planet is named after Parthenope, "maiden-voiced," a siren from Greek myth. She is known for having indirectly founded the city of Naples, in some incident involving unrequited love, drowning, and possibly volcanoes.

The classical symbol is an upturned fish, with an asteroidal star above.
