1250 Galanthus
This minor planet is named after the snowdrop flower, which belongs to the genus Galanthus. They are native to Europe and the Middle East. Because they are usually white and bloom in the spring, they are symbols of springtime, purity, and beauty. In floriography, it represents hope. The symbol for this minor planet is a glyphic representation of a snowdrop: a drooping flower, not unlike the shape of the moly flower from the symbol for 34 Circe, with three tiny teardrop-shaped petals, as snowdrops are known for having three petals in each whorl. Additionally, there is a star beneath the head of the flower, here representing beauty. |
