146 Lucina
146.png

This minor planet is named after Lucina, the Roman goddess of childbirth. She protects women in labor, and helps bring children into the world. Her Greek counterpart is Eileithyia.

This symbol for this asteroid is a Y-shape, representing the up-stretched arms of the goddess reaching out towards the mothers and children, and an upright triangle above it, the alchemical symbol for fire, representing the torch that was often her symbol, over a female cross.
