16 Psyche

This minor planet is named after a mortal in Greek myth, who Eros, the Greek god of love, fell in love with. To summarize, Eros is dumb enough to scratch himself with an arrow meant for her, and then they go through a lot to eventually be with each other.

The classical symbol was designed by this asteroid's discoverer, Annibale de Gasparis, and is a star over a butterfly wing (half-circle). The butterfly is intended to represent a soul, from which Psyche gets her name.
