19 Fortuna

This minor planet is named after the Roman goddess of luck. Her Greek counterpart is Tyche. She was said to be a daughter of Jupiter, protector of wealth and bounty, and fickle dealer of fates, causing weal and woe alike. The concept of Lady Luck, pervasive in Western culture, originates with this goddess.

This asteroid has a classical symbol: a wheel of fortune, which is a circle divided radially into eight segments, with an asteroidal star above it.
