1941 Wild

This minor planet is named after Swiss astronomer Paul Wild (1925 – 2014). He discovered many comets, asteroids, and supernovae during his time at Zimmerwald Observatory. He is notable to me for giving the asteroids he discovered names that range from the mythical to the historical to the whimsical. His asteroids are generally quite fun to develop symbols for. So many of his asteroid names and descriptions make reference to other asteroids; it feels like he was considering the idea space of asteroids as a whole, much like I strive to do.

The symbol of this minor planet is a "GW" monogram, over a star-in-circle, denoting his status as an astronomer.
