20 Massalia
20.png

Massalia is the ancient Greek name for the city of Marseille, France. This is the first asteroid in numerical order that does not have any classical astrological symbol associated with it, the first that is not named after a figure from Roman or Greek myth, and the first that is named after a place.

The symbol is a stylized representation of the historical coat of arms of Marseille. In the center is the flag represented by a crossed circle, on the left is a bull represented by the horn of Taurus, and on the right is a lion represented by the tail of Leo.
