25 Phocaea
25.png

This minor planet is named after the ancient city of Phocaea, the site of modern-day Foça, Turkey. It was settled by the Greeks, and was known throughout the ancient world for its electrum coinage.

The symbol is the quadripartite square that is featured on their coins, with a glyph of a seal beneath it, which also appeared on some coins and may have lent its name to the city.
