29 Amphitrite

This minor planet is named after the Greek goddess of the sea, consort of Poseidon. Her Roman counterpart is Salacia, a minor goddess of saltwater.

There is a classical symbol for this asteroid: A shell, which is represented by an upward-facing lunar crescent, with an asteroidal star above. I do not know who originally devised this symbol.
