3562 Ignatius

This asteroid is named after St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491 - 1556), a Spanish soldier, priest, and theologian. He founded the Society of Jesus, a.k.a. the Jesuits, a military-esque religious order that serves the Pope of the Catholic church.

The symbol of this asteroid is derived from the emblem of the Jesuits (which is itself a sun, with the letters"IHS" for Jesus intersecting a cross, over three crucifixion nails.) It is a Latin capital letter I (for Ignatius) over three nails with points touching.
