3782 Celle

This minor planet is named after the town of Celle, Germany. It is a city with a history reaching back to the Middle Ages. Celle has a bunch of twin cities, of which they seem to be pretty proud. These include:

  • Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium
  • Kwidzyn, Poland
  • Celle Ligure, Liguria, Italy
  • Hämeenlinna, Finland
  • Holbæk, Denmark
  • Sumy, Ukraine
  • Meudon, France
  • Tavistock, United Kingdom
  • Tyumen, Tyumen Oblast, Russia
  • Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
  • Mazkeret Batya, Israel

The symbol for this minor planet is derived from its coat of arms. It is a large shield, with a tiny shield resting in the bottom, and a horizontal line with three vertical lines representing the top of a castle.
