394 Arduina

This minor planet is named after Arduinna or Aduenna, a Celtic goddess of the hunt. In the Gallo-Roman tradition, she was the patron tutelary goddess of the Ardennes Forest (no relation to 4849 Ardenne), and she was identified with the goddess Diana. Because that forest is often associated with the many boars that roam it, this goddess is sometimes depicted as riding a boar.

The symbol of this minor planet is a boar's head, depicted as an inverted triangle with short ears and a truncated nose and short curved tusks coming from the bottom of the sides, with a rightward Artemesian arrow.
