44 Nysa
44.png

This minor planet is named after a region alluded to in Greek mythology. Perhaps it originally corresponded to some real-world location, but to the mythographers, it just represented some far-off mountainous land where far-away things happen. It was said to be the remote place where Dionysus grew up, raised by nymphs.

The symbol of this asteroid is a mountain with a small bunch of grapes under it, as Dionysus.
