4439 Muroto

This minor planet is named after the city of Muroto (室戸市 Muroto-shi), located in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. The area around and including the city is a part of a territory called the "Muroto Global Geopark," a region delineated by UNESCO as being geologically significant. There are some interesting rock features in the area, including active faults.

The symbol of this minor planet is based on the city's seal. It is a large circle with two short horizontal lines on either side, with a tall isosceles triangle within.
