4547 Massachussetts

This minor planet is named after the state of Massachussetts in the United States. It was so named because the Minor Planet Center is located here, based at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.

The symbol of this minor planet is a symbolic rendering of the state's seal, which depicts a Native American man holding a bow with an arrow pointed downward. The symbol is Indus, rotated so that the three points are down and the three forks are up, with an asteroidal star on the top left.
