494 Virtus
This minor planet is named after the Roman deity of courage, valor, and military excellence. They are represented in a number of different ways, including both male and female representations. Their Greek counterpart is Arete. The symbol of this asteroid is a composition of male and female symbols; it is Venus, with an arrow head at the bottom. This symbol also represents the cape (circle) and javelin (arrow) that Virtus is usually depicted with. |
