5001 EMP

This minor planet is named after the Ehfemeridy Malykh Planet, Russian for the "Ephemerides of Minor Planets." This is a publication from the Institute of Applied Astronomy in St. Petersburg/Leningrad that has been published annually since 1948 [1].

The symbol for this minor planet is an open book, as 1115 Aënna, where the left page has a horizontal line bisecting the right half, meant to resemble a capital Cyrillic letter "E" (Э) for Ehfemeridy, and an asteroidal star on the right page representing minor planets.
