57 Mnemosyne

Not to be confused with 1247 Memoria.

This minor planet is named after the goddess of memory from Greek myth. She was a titan, and fathered the familiar nine muses with her nephew (yuck) Zeus. Unlike most of the other titans, she was actually worshiped and invoked, often alongside the muses. In the underworld, she presided over the pool of memory, from which the river Lethe flowed. Any who drank from this river forgot their past life entirely.

The symbol of this minor planet is a large circle, representing the pool of Mnemosyne, divided into nine spaces, representing her nine daughters and the nine nights of partying down on Zeus that made it all possible.
