5986 Xenophon

This minor planet, one of only a handful whose name begins with an 'X', is named after the Athenian nobleman, historian, and military officer Xenophon (440 B.C. - 354 B.C). He was a student of Socrates, and a big fan of contemporary Spartan culture.

The symbol for this minor planet is a Greek capital letter Xi with an arrow coming from the middle bar to the upper right, emphasizing his status as a warrior and military career.
