85047 Krakatau
This minor planet refers to Krakatau or Krakatoa or any number of other archaic translations, the name of an island in Indonesia. The name also refers to the archipelago which contains the island along with three others, all products of a long-lived volcano. The last major and most famous eruption occurred in 1883, which led to the emergence of the fourth island. The symbol for this minor planet is a glyph of an active volcano, represented as a truncated mountain with a spring at the top, with a water wave crossing the middle. |
