970 Primula

This minor planet is named after Primula, the genus of flower that includes the primrose. Primroses are a diverse wildflower, appearing in many colors. They are among the first flowers to bloom in the spring, hence the name of the genus.

The symbol of this minor planet is the symbol for a rose, as 223 Rosa, over a capital Roman numeral I, which also resembles leaves, a stem, and the ground.
