Here, I am afraid I have to apologize. This is the single page for which the title of this website is a gross and blatant misnomer. If there were justice in this world, this would instead be the single page on a website entitled "An Expanded Symbology of the Day Sky," as it is the only astronomical body that is definitionally unseeable in the night sky.

The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. It is vital for all life on Earth. It wasn't named after anything as far as I know, and is in fact the source of inspiration for a number of deities throughout human myth and culture. Every language has a name for the Sun.

The classical symbol of this star is the same as the alchemical symbol for gold: a circle with a dot in the center. It is represented in Unicode as U+2609, by the symbol ☉.
